I have had trouble with a users account not being able to log on and after a lot of investigation came to the conclusion that it would be easier to create a new user.
The mistake I made was that I created a new mailbox as well with the same username as the old one. The rest of the profile/user account works fine with 2 exceptions.

1: There are now 2 mailboxes with the users name and I've tried reconnecting to the old mailbox through Exchange manager with no Luck. The old mailbox is still visable. She can access her new mailbox but needs access to all her old emails.

2: Everytime the user logs on and tries to open Outlook, the locations settings are gone. I have to reconnect to the server thru the mail settings.

We create new users on a regular basis and haven't had this problem before. Any help would be much apprecited

Hi Tigsboy - do you have deleted mailbox retention set?
If you do then you could try this.
Delete the users old & now redundant AD account and old 2000 mailbox. The mailbox will not be completely deleted due to the retention, so if you go to system manager expand the mailbox store and look in mailboxes you should see the original mailbox with a red X beside it. If you don't see the x then right click on the Mailboxes option, under the mailbox store, and select Run Cleanup Agent. You can then right click the person's mailbox and reconnect it to a spare test/admin account that doesn't already have a mailbox.
You can access the mailbox as the spare test account and export it to PST and import into the user's current mailbox. They will then have all old & new messages. Once sure all is ok then delete the spare test account mailbox.

Let me know how u get on.
