I come from a novell 3.12 environment, I therefore had a vendor install Novell 6 on a new server. Then I used the migration tool to bring over files/users. Migration appeared to work successfully. I upgraded my PC to client 3.32
My problem is that only one of my users(supervisor access) has any access to printers /files etc.. and I must sign everyone on to that users name in order for anyone to have access. Is it possible that user licenses were never installed and only a server license? when I go to nwadmin license services the units installed = 1 and units in use = 1 with units available = 0
thanks

Sounds like that's the case. If you log that user out, can you log another user in?

Havent had a real good chance to try that yet. I know that I can't sign in to my BackupExec with admin unless I sign everyone else off first

What utility would actually tell me how many user licenses there are?

Hello LenaS -

You should be able to view in NWADMIN - once opened, look for something like:

Novell+Netware 6 NSBS User+600
Novell+Netware 6 Server+600

If you select "Details" under the first one, you'll notice "License Info - Units Installed, & Units In Use"

I believe that's what your looking for. However, keep in mind Novell is slowly weeding out NWADMIN, and suggests to add or change license info, you should use iManage. Part of the Web Manager.

Good Luck ~

I don't think NW 6 licensing will show up in NWAdmin. Use conslowone or iManage. You can try to add the license again in iManage. If it's already there, it'll tell you. If not, install it and go from there.

Thanks. We found out the user licenses had not been installed.

Probably too late for anyone to respond; however, I have the opposite problem of LenaS. We recently upgraded to Netware 6 from 5.1 and NWAdmin tells me we have an installed base of 75 (correct) and Used = 88 (incorrect!!) I have 68 configured NDS User objects and have added no users since upgrading.

Help, what happened? I can't add a new user who can successfully retrieve network files so need to figure this out quickly.

Thank you to anyone who may hear and respond.
