User Information List

Hello.

I am a site administrator and I would like to create a list that would populate Assigned To field. The problem that I encounter is the following:

when I go to Manage Users it shows the users I have specifically gave premission to access the site. When I look at the User Information list however, it shows people I don't even know. I can't seem to remove them either, as it never gives me that option. Since User Information list populates the Assigned To field I end up with a bunch of folks I don't want there.

Does anybody have a suggestion on how to resolve this problem?

I have the same problem.

I know the reason, but not the solution.

In my case I have an intranet with several user defined.
And some document library has anonymous access.
So, even users that have not defined as users of this intranet appears in the information user list.

Can you resolve this problem?

local admins on the server have allways full permission on sharepoint lists, that's why they appear...

No it doesn't.

I have an enterprise intranet, where all the domain users has read permissions.

Also I have a department intranet for each department, where only department people has access.

In one of this intranets, there are a document library that have to have read access for all enterprise people. So I have to enable the anonymous access for "Lists and Libraries" and have to enable the anonymous access (only view elements) to this document library.

The problem isn't that all users can see the task list of this department intranet, even that all users that have accessed to he department intranet appears in the User Information List. So, when a user create a new departament task it appears all these users in the list box "Assigned to".
