Hi all,

i am wondering if Users of Sharepoint Services need to be defined in Active Directory of the resprective Domain?
Same question to Sharepoint Portal Server 2003

You can set up your WSS site to allow authenticated users access to the site which eliminates the need for setting users up in WSS.

We are using Active Directory and we have our general portal set up for read only for authenticated domain users and then other sites within the main portal have cross site group authority.

OR.. You can set it up so the user has to have a userid and password for WSS.
