Hi everyone,

I am trying to install Cognos Reportnet with SQL-Server 2000. How can I specify the user ID and password for content store?

What I was doing before is:
• Created a database named “crm”, add a new user “1234” with login “1234” to it, which belongs to “ddladmin”
• In property of “crm”, specify the permission of "create", "select" etc for user “1234”
• In configuration of reportnet -> contend store, specify of database of “crm”, user id and password of “1234”
But I always got error of “DPR-ERR-2058”.

Whatelse am I missing? Should I specify “sa” and corresponding password in content store configuration instead?

Can somebody simply walk through me for this initially configuration? Great appreciation for it.

Thanks in advance, Morgan

Are tables being created in the database? If not, what are the errors in the crnserver.log file? Are you sure that SQL Server is running on the default port?

Thanks flex13. I reinstalled the sql server 2000 with sp3a and reportnet at all. Using mix authentication and inside configuration of reportnet, I specified the "sa" and password as User ID, it is no problem now to start the web portal " I already created a database "crm".

So I think maybe that is the reason that without SP3a, the port 1433 may not working well before.

However, how can I check the table is created or not? During new datasource creation, I select "SQL Server" and "crm" database, with User ID of "sa", it always can not establish sucessfully. Why? Should I specify another User for that "crm"? And what permission attached with it?

Thanks a lot

ReportNet will NOT be able to work with SQL Server unless it is Service Pack 3.

i think if your using windows xp with sp2 as operating system then you need to have sp3a for sql server.if you are using xp with sp1 or previous versions then you don't need sp3a.

Yet I still want to find out how to check the new table in content store (say, inside database "crm")is created or not? currently only system tables there.

Can anyone walk through me how to configure the permission of user "1234"?

Great appreciated for any answer.
