We are running Metaframe XP service release 2. We have about 50 users. One specific user always has this problem everytime the user connects to the desktop. Once connected to the desktop, the user cann't go beyond the boundaries of the desktop window. The display settings for the connection
are set to take up 99 percent of her screen. She can still see her windows taskbar but cann't go out of the Citrix window to get to it. She has to ctrl-alt-delete to close Citrix. Any ideas?

What O/S is the Client...????

Can you change the Client to different display settings say a 640x480 setting...??? What is the "local" client display set to....???

Sorry, this seems like a stupid question, but you said "can't get out of the Citrix Window to get to the Start Button"

You are talking about the Start Button Menu within the Citrix Window and NOT the Start Button Menu on her desktop? If she can't get to the Start Button menu on her desktop, who cares... as long as shes mapping client drives she should still be able to get to her files, and she should be selecting log off from the Start button in the Citrix Window to log off her session, or, at worst case, clicking the "X" in the top right corner to Disconnect the Session. (If users are doing that I'd look at how you have the Disconnect options setup for the ICA connections.

How many Start Menu's do you see on her desktop? 1 or 2? Is the resolution of her screen just not showing you everything? Are there scroll bars at the side of the screen? What resolution do you currently have setup on the users computer and what resolution do you have configured for the ICA session through the ICA shortcut in Program Manager?

Is this the situation where the mouse cursor gets locked inside the Citrix ICA session?

I haven't seen it around for ages - If I remember rightly, it's to do with an old client version.

Try upgrading your ICA client.

Has the user minimised the taskbar inside the Citrix session, because she was confused seeing 2 task bars? Before anyone says "Oh, but that's just dumb", I have seen so many users do this, that I'm beginning to think it's almost a natural reaction!

I hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

I ran into that Mouse situation with 2 laptops both with 2 different OS's. It turned out to be a problem with a Serial Mouse. If she's using a serial mouse, it will lock her Mouse within the ICA Session (occasionally, not at all times).
Try a PS2 or USB mouse. Dave Namou, MCSE CCEA

Just had to flag this back at the top. I know what he is talking about and have seen it happen and had it happen to me. Now before you ask what MISADMIN said -- Not all apps are run through the server. I don't have applications that are graphic intesive like 3D Apps or AUTOCAD. Also I do not allow any forms of movies played through it. Any of these situations are done from the desktop. When this error occurs you can't minimize your citrix setting or move outside the imaginary box it makes. Even if you alt tab out of it you still cannot move outside this box. The only sulition I have found is do a CRT ALT DEL and restart the application. I have seen this done with a usb and PS2 mice and have reinstalled the ICA connection. Currently running Citrix Program nieghborhood version 6.00.910.

That makes sense - USB support is "limited", according to Citrix. I'd imagine it's even more "limited" with older client versions. Have you tried the most recent client? CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

First thing I am wondering, is how you go SR2, for XP, when it is not yet released. Just curious.
