Hello,

I am a potential new customer of Macola software and interested in honest unbiased feedback from current users. We are currently using a product that has been dead-ended by the original developer. They have sold licensing and code rights to a third party that is doing some bug fixes and enhancements but there are serious questions as to the accuracy of the data, particularly with inventory costing.

Brief background: we are a make-to-order and make-to-stock manufacturer of wood products, and do both wholesale and retail sales as well as subcontracting to other companies. So we have a wide range of needs, but are a fairly small company (15 total employees).

TIA,
David

How happy are you with the flexibility to meet changing needs in your business?

How helpful is the company in responding to tech support and bug fixes?

How stable or bug-free is it?

If you were starting right now to make a selection would you still have selected a Macola product? If so, why?

What other packages would be on your short list?

David:

We are a small manufacturing company. We build to stock and built to order. Wholesale only. We run Macola 7.5.102e, Pervasive.

Please note that we do not run Microsoft SQL. I think that is the only database that Macola is offering now. Be sure to ask others - because I think there are significant differences.

As for stability, We have not upgraded in over 5 years. There are a few bugs, but not many. The biggest issues are functionality or lack of it. Macola requires users to do things a certain way and as long as you can live with that you will be ok.

I am not a Macola user but I am a Macola solution provider. I just wanted to note that with the right business partner, Macola can be extremely flexible. There are many options available for adapting and enhancing the solution to meet your business needs. In its price range you will find it hard to find a solution that comes with as many features out of the box and provides good flexibility. The other option these days is to provide a limited set of abilities and great flexibility to add a great deal (translate: spend a lot of extra money). That is just my two cents on the matter.
