I have just installed 5.0.7 Enterprise with 7 additional 25 user licenses, which should give the system 180 total users. However, when doing a brand -t it is only showing 105 licensed users. The same with a uname -X. Currently /var/adm/messages is showing an intermittent message saying "user login limit exceeded by 1 user." The system is spread out over a few different cities and it hard to tell if it is dropping someone off when a new person logs in. A ps-ef is not showing any user or process that is defunct. Thanks for the help.

Carl.

What do you see in the License Manager? Does it show all 7 25-user licenses?

I don't believe SCO would automatically kick off any active users to make room. It should just deny the new connection attempts.

Yeah, it shows all 7 plus the 5 user from the Enterprise. For some reason when I checked there were 106 and 107 users, but when I tried to check it later I was getting denied access.

Has the system been rebooted since adding all those licenses?

The only article I found regarding this issue was for earlier versions of OpenServer5.

There is a patch for 5.0.7 License Manager (OSS656b). This is included in Maintenance Pack #3.

Moto,

The system has been rebooted multiple times since we first started with this problem.

I saw the same article, but it seems at risky to try that since it is for earlier versions.

Maintenance Pack 3 was loaded before this problem even started so, I am guessing that patch would already be installed and applied, correct?

In the interim, I ordered a 100 user license and will remove four of the others just to see if by chance that might solve the problem. This is our largest customer and I would like to keep them happy since we took them off of a NCR S28 in favor of the NCR (Dell PE) S1800.

I agree 100% about playing it safe, especially if they are trying to operate 24/7. With 5.0.7, I have removed all licenses and re-installed, but would only do so if I had the machine to myself for a while.

Our largest Client has 105-user license (5-user + 100-user), so your symptom is one I haven't seen. Good luck and please report back if that solves the problem.

Well, I got them all off. Removed all of the licenses, except the 5 user and then reloaded all them back in and poof! Reboot number 137 seemed to work. Now showing 180 users!

Thanks for the help.

Carl.
