I just added a new user defined field. When I updated the database to include the new field, I lost all my other udf's. By lost I mean I now have n/a where there was specific data before. The labels are all still viewable on the screen. We are running Goldmine 5.7. I went back to January and copied the two user-defined files (ContUDef.mdx and ContUDef.dbf) over the two that were there but that did not solve the problem. Where did I hide my udf's and how do I prevent that from happening again. That is the second time that has happened. The first time, the computer guru did what I said above. However, I'm not sure where he got the files from and where he copied them to because I was not watching. Now, I can't get hold of him. And, obviously he patched me not resolve the issue. Any help from the experts? Thanks in advanced for your time and help. Janet Lyn

I've seen this before on 5.5. As I recall I just ran the rebuild on the system that displayed the n/a and that took care of the problem. Right click in the field area under the field tab and select "Screen Design" from the pop up and then Rebuild from the menu. Hope it helps.

I tried what you said and that did not work. Had decided to uninstall and reinstall Goldmine. When put in CD to uninstall it gave me an option to repair. I did and now it works fine. Thanks for the help. Janet Lyn
