I have users that I can't see in active directory but then I try to create a user, the active directory tells me that the user already exist. The user account is a ordinary name like "bill".
When I do a search for the user objekt the result is blank.
Does anyony have the same problem?

Try and see if there is a username that is Bill. Remember, the display name and the username do not have to be the same. Also look in other OU's.

I have checked that. I can't find it anywhere. I got the same problem with some groups. Like my everyone group has disappear and AD can't create a new with the same name.

Try using Ntdsutil.exe to cleanup your AD database CJ

Do a search for the entire directory. I had the exact same issue, did a search for the user, and found an account buried in a secruity folder. Deleted the account, added it back with no problem. Glen A. Johnson

I have no filters in mmc and I can't find any corruption then I run ntdsutil.
