I have a combo box populated by a query. I don't want the user to be able to select anything but what is in the list, (limit to list), I don't want the user to be able to go into the text of a row and change any characters. The combo box would behave like a value list.

Any help?

I'm a bit confused by what you are wanting to do here
If you set limit to the list property to yes then They can only select what is in the list. They will not be able to change the text to any thing other then what is in the list. If you are worried about them changing what is in the drop down they can't do that from the form either.

What you say is true, but when you set the properties to "limit to list" you can still go into the text in the row and make changes to the text, therefore causing an error, I want the user to only be able to select what is in the list and not make any changes to the item.

Hi Jane,
Your combobox cannot be bound to a field from the table that is "behind" (Record Source) the form. It must be unbound. You may have to fix this then in its Row source, select the table where you want the data to come from. Gord
