User Can't Change Password or Use The FTP and Telnet commands.

Hello,

My users cannot change their passwords using the "passwd" command. The error they are receiving is:

3004-616 User "____" does not exist.
3004-709 Error changing password for "____".

Also, when they try and use the "ftp or telnet" commands nothing happens,it just returns to a new prompt.

Any ideas?

Yes, they were able to do this before.

check if you havent changed users to be admin=true in /etc/security/user
in this case only root changes their password

try checking corectness of your password database (pwdcheck or something like that)

I tried the pwdck. It says the /etc/security/passwd is not in the same order as the /etc/passwd.

what says the usrck -n ALL ?

What is your Level of : bos.rte.libc and bos.rte.libpthreads ? ML_9 ????

Backup your Passwordfiles and then do 'pwdck -y "user"' maybe it fix the Problem.

I have a Problem that the User can not change the Password, after it was expired.
The only one way was to delete the User or waiting on a stable Fix.

I think someone manually edited your passwd files. You might check them for valid entries. I'd look into the thing you mentioned in your 3rd post, bgdak.
