User cannot connect to mail

I have one user that is unable to connect to his mail in Notes R5. When click on mail system is unable to find server and gives option to search "local or Domino server". When I select the Domino server I get the error message "The DocLink database cannot be located". This happened once last week (same user) I deleted him from the mail server and recreated his account. This corrected the problem at that time. Not a good solution as school begins. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this?
 
This came right from the R5 Help Database in Notes:

What happened:
Notes cannot currently find the source of the link you activated.

What you can do:
This occurs if you interrupt a search in progress. Retry, allowing Notes to search all available servers. If you still receive this error, choose Link - Properties, then click Basics to find out the location of the link database. Check server status. If the server is available, retry. You can also use the database catalog to check whether the database exists, then retry if it is available.
