Hi.
Does anybody know the default password of the users BIN and ADM in SCO Open Server 5.04 ? Or, if at least, they have a password.

During the instalation I didn´t need to define a password for this users anytime. So, I believe that they have a default password or they don´t have a password.
But, if they don´t have a password, also can´t make a logon, because I tried it.

The sco install does not assign passwords to these users, but the password file is created in such a way that it prevents them from being able to log in. This is accomplished by putting an asterisk "*" in the encrypted-password part of the /etc/passwd file, which does not match the encryption of any possible password.

Why are you trying to log in as these users?

I was trying to log in because I had a problem in the /etc/passwd file, just in the root line. So when I tried a log in, received a "No Shell" message.
I saw that /etc/passwd belongs to user bin.

But, now alright - with a boot/root floppy.

Tks
