user authentication

Hi fellow programmers,im new in web development, im building a web application,my first task is to authenticate users against AD USING LDAP SERVER, The ldap server runs in another machine, all i have is the port number and ip address,i want to design a form that will authenticate users and direct them to another page.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
