I am starting to migrate users (nothing software based, just doing it manually) from Novell to Microsoft. In Novell, you can have a user named John Smith with a login of jsmith in a particular NDS context, then have another user, maybe Jane Smith and thus login name of jsmith in another context and Novell is ok with that because when you logged in, you specified the context for that user.
I'm finding Microsoft isn't ok with that however. When I create another jsmith login name, even though it's in another OU, it complains about a user with that login account already exists.
Ok, so how is everybody else handling this scenario?
This is also affecting my email accounts when I go add mailboxes in Exchange 2007. I have seen email syntax of
john.smith@domain.com, but are admins using john.smith as the domain login?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
