Good morning,

I am attempting to use my workstation as the server for a test DB in SQL 8, however, I am unsure of what I need to do to make it happen.

I have done this once before at a previous job, but cannot figure out what I did.

More info: I want to create a test DB on my workstation that I can use to generate reports. If this is successful, I will create a DB on the server for the reports, but I really want to test it first.

If any more info is needed, please let me know.

TIA,
Mark

You will need to install either the personal or developer version of sql server 2000.

You need to install a Server Operating System for one thing. Windows 2000 Professional is not the same as Windows 2000 Server.

To install full blown as SQLBill said you'll need a server OS. You cna install MSDE, personal, or developer on a workstation OS. Any of those three should work for you.
