Hi,

If I have linux and wind XP home edition installed in my computer, can I run them at the same time? Say, I'm using Linux to run my server, but I want to run win XP to type email or something, can i do that?

Thanks!

Thanks!
However, are there any other cheaper alternatives?

You will not be able to run the 2 OS's simultaniously. Like sleipner stated, you can do it using VMware workstation.

You may not need to use XP, check out WINE (Wine Is Not an Emulator) which may be able to run programmes you want under linux.

Plus, of course, there are Linux alternatives for just about every Windows app

I haven't done much work with it, but bochs ( seems to work pretty nicely. The only time I tried it was with the Suse 8.2 Live CD. Since I couldn't remove the CD, the only thing bochs would do was try to boot up another instance of the Suse CD (I'm sure it was my fault and could have been rectified with a bit of RTFM, but I wasn't really worried about it).

My theory is, if you want to run Windows apps, run a Windows operating system. If you want Linux, run Linux. If you try to ride the line, you're going to spend a good deal of time fiddling around trying to get stuff to work right.

Just my $.02. Feel free to disagree :)
