use print engine within a dos-application ?

Hi together!

Does anybody know if it is possible to call the 8.5-print engine from a dos-application ?
We have an old borland-pascal application that uses a btrieve-database. I know that it is possible to access btrieve with crystal. But is it also possible to use the engine with a dos-application ?
