Here's a dumb question that I just can't seem to find the answer to. I'm putting together a large online newspaper, and I was wondering if XLink can be used to move between documents in the way the HTML <a></a> link can.
Most of the older texts say that XLink is used only by specialized agents (browsers with XML parsers), but I can't seem to find anything concrete about whether it will work in MSIE 5+, or not?
Got any ideas?
The big reasons is that because I'd like to define a commen set of standard links (pointing to external sites upon mention of certain words, like people or organizations), and keep the code centralized in an XML document. Unavoidably, the keywords are going to be mentioned in our articles at some point, so I'd like this to be consistent.
CNet and ZDNet do this through Vignette StoryServer, which is unfortunately $80,000 more than I was looking to spend.
