I am using cr 7.0 in win 95
In file/options/sql tab i have checked "stored procedure"
and now in report designer/standard report expert, while
connecting to sql/odbc it gives crw32 error "illegal
operation" . I have more than 1000 stored procedures in
the database. RAM is 128 MB.

Someone may know exactly what is causing this, but in the meantime we can troubleshoot.

What is the last item you click before you get the error?

Does this happen with tables or just stored procedures.

If you take off the SP checkmark in options, does it otherwist work OK?

Confirm that you are logged in with database permissions to execute stored procedures.

You might also want to reinstall CR7, just to rule out a corrupted DLL. [sig]<p>Ken Hamady<br><a href=mailto:ken@kenhamady.com>ken@kenhamady.com</a><br><a href= Reports Taining by Ken Hamady</a><br>[/sig]

We have CR7 installed in 5 machines but getting the same error on each machine.

We have full database permissions

The problem is happening only in case of Stored procedures
and not in tables

If we take off sp checkmark, it is working perfectly fine.

the last button we pressed is SQL/ODBC [sig][/sig]

This is a strange one. Lets determine if it is related to the database, or simply Crystal:

You could be in 2 situations when you click the SQL button on the data tab.
1) If you have just started Crystal, you are given a list of DSN connections to pick from.
2) However, if you are already connected to the database, then you are given a list of the tables in that connection.

Does this error happen in both of these cases or just one?

If this error only happens when you are already connected, I would try connecting to another database that has fewer SPs, just to see if there is some type of limit, or if there is an issue with that specific database.

If it happens even before any connection, then there is a more general configuration problem with Crystal itself. At this point, crystal wouldn't even know if you are connecting to SQL Server or another database. It would be failing on its own.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

What build of CR7 are you using? the latest is 100.
Are you using CR Info by any chance?
Did you try reinstalling on one PC to see if something installed after CR bonked a driver or DLL?
