I need some recommendations for good books explaining VB's ADO or other connection to a local or network based dataBase.

Try ADO 2.0: Programmers Reference by David Sussman and Alex Homer


Awesome book and explains in good detail...
 
You can check out books at Including reviews and sample chapters. The best book is one written at your ability level and in a writting style that you can follow and understand easily. Just read it well and do all the examples.

Also, here are some free tutorials on the net that may help as well.
