I am administering a Mitel 3300 ICP (Release level: 8.0) and am trying to understand why the COR group number is applied to a route in the ARS Routes form and not the COR number. Looking at this guide on "Mitel ARS Programming for Security" Link, it speaks about assigning a COR number to a route, but in the Mitel 3300 ICP I am administering, the COR group number is assigned instead. If a route is assigned a COR group number of say 2, which maps to a 3-96 (Classes Of Restriction For Group) in the Class of Restriction Groups form, does this mean that the route is assigned more than one COR number that is 3-96?

yep
it can be confusing but think of it like this

digits dialled xxxx+8 rt 1

rt 1 cor 1 (=cor group1)
cor group 1 - 2,3,4,5 ( these are the CORS that are blocked )
this means that any extensions with cor 2,3,4,5 are NOT allowed to dial xxxx+8

digits dialled xxxy+8 rt 2
rt 2 cor 2 (=cor group2)
cor group 2 - blank ( no CORS are blocked )
this means that any extensions with any cors are allowed to dial xxxy+8

And further if the route is flagged as emergency then device only is allowed to dial the digits routed towards it

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

It Helps a lot if you remind yourself the the GROUP contains RESTRICTED CORS

[pre]COR Of Phone ARS ROUTE COR Assn COR GRoup GRP 3 Restricted CORs
3 2 2 => 1,2,4,5,6[/pre]

In the above example, the phone with COR 3 will be able to dial the route because COR 3 is not restricted by the GROUP
Phones with a COR of 1,2,4,5,or 6 would not be able to dial the Route
