Hi all,
I'm looking for help with how to make an Access database up and work on a web page which is developed from Front Page HTML.
The access database is simply for input data, search existing and generate reports.
Does it cause me any problem if I just have a link to Access file?
What if people click on the link at the same time, are they be able to open Access file and input data at once?
Please help.

I think you really want to have a form that will input data to the access database, rather than the Access database to be 'downloaded' and then uploaded again.

You might be better looking in a web forum for this to be quite honest.

Hello

Using an Access database as the back end to a website is perfectly feasible. However, do consider the following:

1. The MDB format doesn't cope well with lots of concurrent users. Consider SQL Server/MSDE if you're going to be having lots of users or large amounts of data.

2. You say you have a link to download the Access DB and input data - if any authorised user has the rights to upload data to the site in order to let this data persist, this creates a big security issue (especially if you've got sensitive information in there) that needs to be addressed.

By using an HTML and ASP form with the MDB file in a location outside the web root you can still save data to the Access database and report on data from this. It also means that the users don't need MS Access on their PC.
