Can we use our 412 as a dial up server for dial up users?
We have PRI with 200 DID # and would like to use 4 for dial up. I have seen RAS and PPP in the RAS tab but not sure what it is for. Users will be using Microsoft Dial up in Windows XP. Thanks, George

Depends on how the ras user will connect.

If by 56k modem you will need a analogue modem board.

If by isdn modem then no board is needed.

Make an incoming call route for data calls (no need for to use a number as it will detect isdn data calls) and route this to dialin (default ras)

Create a user, password and on the dial in tab tick dial in on

Users will use their 56k modems to connect. I am not sure I understood your answer?!

1) you will need a modem card in the IP office

2) you will need an incomming call route to Dial in ( as you are using a modem this will be a speach call)

3) create a user in the IPO for each remote user, they require a name & password but NO Extn number, also remember to enable DialIn

4) set the IPO to act as a DHCP server for DialIn onnections (otherwise add IP routes for each of the remote users)
