I need to turn off internet explorer popup blocker using a group policy or logon script. I have found several references on how to do this but none of the references match what i actually have on my win2k server AD. The references say go to administrative templates - windows components - internet explorer -- and then they say there are settings to enable/disable the popup blocker. But these dont show up in my settings. I downloaded the latests .adm files for win2k sp4 but there are still no settings to control the popup blocker.

anybody have any suggestions about how i can disable ie popup blocker?

thanks

Oh if it's just a couple of sites giving you problems then you can exclude them and leave the popup blocker active.

i guess i need to read up more on the adm files. Ive been afraid to fool around too much with anything other than what is resident on the server(s). If I use the admin tools on my xp workstation will it actually update/modify the adm files on the server?

I did originally do some excludes but we keep adding URL's and its gotten to the point that i just need to get rid of the popup blocker completely. The help calls are wearing us out.

If you download the MS doc in the link it explains the process on page 12 (Upgrading Existing GPOs), it will only upgrade the GPO's that you open to edit. You can manually copy the adm to the appropriate GPO on the server if you prefer.

Try it on a test box and you will see it's fairly straight forward just a bit nerve racking the first time.
