Hello, we're starting a new client-server project (the company) , the client will be done in JAVA, but wich one ? The programmers here would like to use Java Builder, but the management wants to use FORTE (cause its free)... Can anyone give some arguments why one is better then the other ?
Every advice is welcome.
Thanks

For GUI development, Jbuilder is by far the best tool that I have used. Granted I have little more than glanced at Forte. I have used Visual Cafe exstensively and I much perfer Jbuilder. Most Swing Developers that I know use Jbuilder. You would only need the Personal edition unless you are doing EJB development so the cost would be a mere $99 per Developer. Sure it is more than free but the money saved in Developer productivity makes it more than worth it.

Here's my 2 cents worth..

Wushutwist has been helpful with my inquiries so I agree with him/her? :)

I've been using Forte as well but lately, I'm been using NetBeans ( an open-source version of Forte. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that sun bought the "code" from these folks and that is why they have released their own version (Forte) based on NetBeans (you'll see it when you start up Forte).

Cheers,

Christopher
