Use Cleaning tape goes one after DLT was used once only and device was 1

I'm using Backup exec version 8.5 and lately I'm experiencing the problem where the "use cleaning cartridge" light goes on after I insert a DLT tape which I just used once before and after the DLT device was just cleaned. If anyone have experienced anything like this or know of a fix then please respond. Thanks

Run the cleaning dlt through 3 times for a thorough clean. Go to 'properties' for the device, select the 'cleaning' tab and reset the cleaning statistics. Run your backup with a new dlt, then check your cleaning stats for errors, especially if the cleaning light comes on again. It's quite possible that your dlt unit has a hardware fault and needs replacing.

I am also having the same problem with a DLT8000. I have been trying to contact Quantum but that is a story too long to tell here.

Roukie007 - Post your attempts to solve this problem we may stumble on too something.

Multiple cleaning I have tried. I ordered 2 new Quantum cleaning cartridges (tried with both) and purchased new Maxell DLT IV tapes.

Conclusion: did absolutely no good!

My next step is too install the troubleshooting software that quantum offers.
