Hi,
I begin in the unix environment, and i would like to know with which application i can open and talk with a digi portserver behind a serial port (tty0 on S1).
First, i have configured the port in 9600 8bit and 1 stop.

Thanks a lot for your help.

hi ,
normally on a digiport server , you have a management port ( depending on what model you have ) its normally the 1st port on the digi box
so if you have a terminal or even a PC with emualation software e.g. reflections, putty etc.. you set the terminal / pc serial port ( to 9600 , 8 1 NONE) and connect it to the digibox , if successfull you'll get the didbox
login screen

( you'll have to make sure you have the correct cable )

All is correct : Cable and port of the digi
i configure my tty0 with 9600 8 N 1
What i must do to view the login ?
cat /dev/tty0 ?

You can also try telnet'ing directly to the digiport IP address assuming that port hasn't been manually disabled. You should be presented with a login allowing you to login and view/change the configuration. Once the port(s) are configured then use smit to define the serial port(s) but be sure to specify the DigiPort device as the Parent device. Assuming you are defining a port as a tty and it is "enabled", then if the correct cable is used on the remote (terminal) end, you should receive a standard AIX login prompt on the terminal AFTER pressing the Enter key.

Document your steps so when you need to do this again it will be quite easy.

Good luck.
