Use a formula as group name problem 1

Hello,

I am using CR9 with an Oracle database.

I am grouping on an ID field - ids from 1-96 that correspond to 15 minute time segments 00:00, 00:15, 00:30, 00:45, 01:00....23:59.

I have a formula that translates the id number into the time string (e.g.. id 13 translates to 03:15).

I have a line graph that displays on change of that ID field.

I would like the time string to show in the graph label. I went to Group Expert, selected my group, selected options, selected the options tab, checked the customize group name field and selected "Use formula as Group Name".

If I don't suppress the group footer, I see that it has translated my IDs into times as I specified in the formula but the graph labels still show my IDs instead of the times. Is there some other setting I have missed? I have another graph that I maintain (I did not develop it) that uses the same scheme on a bar graph and it works just fine. Should it work the same on a line graph?

Thank you for your help!

When you go into this Chart expert's data tab is this set as a "Group" chart or an "Advanced" chart? Only "Group" charts pick up the Group name automaticallly.

Thanks for responding. You are correct - the report that displays my formula is set as a group chart and the one that won't is set as an advanced chart.

Do you know how to change that option?

You should be able to change that option if you have groups with subtotals in your report. To make the same chart you would have to have the same groups as the other report.

The other option would be to create the formula as a separate formula field in the second report. Then use that as the 'on change of' in the Advanced chart.

That's just what I needed (subtotals). Thanks so much for your help!
