My Win98SE doesn't seem to be able to detect usb flash drives when i plug it in the hub. I dont understand why, cause all Win98 have USB controller enabled(plus, my other newer Win98 could detect it). I tried microsofts's fix:
But that didn't help;
This PC probably havent had an update in years, so do you think I might need to get it all of microsoft's usb updates?
I even used "add new hardware" in control panel to detect the usb, but nothing came of it(the system didn't detect anything!).
Also, I tried looking for suitable drivers, but since i really am new to this field I had no idea of where to look for the drivers. I went to some websites, and the drivers were sorted by company. I'm not too sure of what company to pick, though i did try some and none of them worked(probably because the usb can't even be detected).

Can someone tell me what the problem is?
Ty in advance

after looking around...
the company should be that of the USB PCI card, no?

It should be that of the maker of the USB drive.

Can you tell us what Manufacturer and Model your USB drive is?

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Do you know which version of USB (v1 or v1.1) the computer is running. If it's Version 1, the Flash Drive probably doesn't recognise it as a USB Port

I suppose that your system can identify USB components other than the flash drive.

In this case, yes, you need a driver to make the flash disk look like a drive on the system. As jkl0 sayd, the drivers for that purpose are quite generic. Normally the web site of the manufacturer of your USB module shall have it. If not, visit the Sandisk or the Memorex web site. They have it.
