USB Power Surge

Hi,

I recently went to transfer some pictures from my Digital Camera to my PC using a USB cable.

As soon as I hooked it up I got a message telling me of a surge on the USB port also telling me that the device was drawing to much power.

Everything I can find tells me that I need to get an external hub with it's own power source, however this has not been an issue in the past....just all of a sudden.

Any ideas? This is driving me nuts!!

XP does not reliably recognize and report an excessive USB device demand situation:

Get the powered hub, or use a USB port on a different USB controller; i.e. if plugging into the back of the workstation, try the front panel ports instead.

I have tried using a different port...no difference...it baffles me...I have been using this camera for almost 2 years
