USB ports power off

I recently upgrade my system to an athlon 1.1ghz with a gigabyte z7m m/b but
I now find that my USB port power off while in use. I mainly use USB for my
modem plus gamepad and find that whenever i use either the whole USB port
power off and I have to restart to reintialize them. I'am using a via
chipset with the updated 4in1 driver and USB filters and version FB bios but no
luck. I also tried reset bios defaults with no joy.

I orginally had win98 installed and it did this only once and i thought it
was just a one off gliche so I formatted and install win2k.
After installing win2k my usb powered off as soon as I went to use them. I
reinstalled my modem and usb drivers and now can use my usb but only for a
few minutes at best before they power off again........

Any Idea's please.....

sounds like you need to get that motherboard replaced.
