Often, the USB port will not appear in the Handheld Manager where I assign a handheld to a user. It will usually reappear after a reboot, but that seems a rather unprofessional solution to the problem.

Ideas?

Why not install a remote BlackBerry Manager on your PC and assign devices that way..... or better still use wireless Enterprise Activation.

I've always thought attaching devices to servers is an inheritantly flawed method of activating devices.

I agree.

Check if your BES needs any driver updates for Windows and make sure you've got the latest BES (4.1.4).
