This is more hw question... Is there a way to determine how many USB devices a power supply can support? I'm working on a hp pavilion & when I take to my bench (with only the basic keyboard/mouse/nic) the pc works great. When I bring it back to the owner, it stinks. Only difference is that owner has USB mm keyboard (with it's own usb jack), usb mouse, usb dsl modem, usb muilti fuction printer - all of which I don't have on my site. I first thought this was a virus/spyware problem, but system checks clean. So I believe this must be a power supply problem. Anybody have a different angle?
Thanks - Keith

Add a USB hub with an external powersupply and I guess the owner will be happy again ;-)

OK ADSL USB Modems are reknown for drawing lots of current, a USB port is only suppose to deliver 500ma and its not unknown for these modems to need a little in excess of this.

If you go to device manager and right click on the usb devices, choose the power tab and you can see how much power is being used.

As TonHu as stated a powered USB hub is the answer
