USB Overload?

One of my IBM laptops running Win XP Pro SP3 started giving USB Overload messages today with NO USB devices plugged in. I tried rebooting but the issue still exists.

I have never seen this before but we do use the USB port for file transfer using a USB drive.

I am not sure if this is a real hardware problem 'cause I've read some issues about SP2 having this issue which had been fixed.

Is anyone aware of this error? Any suggestions on what step to take next?

Thanks - Bob [sad]

Have you tried the USB fix of using Device Manager to remove the USB root hubs that show on your machine, then rebooting and letting XP rediscover the ports.

You might find some other solutions here.
