USB issue

Windows XP home XP2

Suddenly no USB devices get detected when plugged in.

Two USB ports on motherboard and two on a PCI card. All the same. there is power to them as my Ipod is happily charging as we speak.

No conflicts in device manager and all 4 usb ports detected in there.

Have run windows update, AV up to date and system clean. Have removed USB ports from device manager and re-installed. Weird or what!

Any thoughts as I'm lost!!!

You're going to think I'm crazy for asking, but have you checked the devices with another USB cable to be sure the one you are using is good? Sorry if that's a dumb question.
