Hi all, i just purchased a 80GB Seagate external hard drive with a USB connection. I want to load an OS on it and be able to boot from the hard drive but dont know how to using the USB connection. Any suggestions???[afro]

You need to check your BIOS to see if this option is available. How new is the PC?

The PC is about a year old, its a MSI motherboard. So you are saying that this is possible? Do you knbow what the option will be? I recently went into the BIOS and checked the boot device order. Unfortanetly the USB hard drive was not in the list.

Not all USB ports and drives are bootable depending on the mohtherboard. It might make a difference what port the USB cable is plugged into.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

This is true, it can be the motherboard. I will chek the ports to see if that is the problem. Hopefully it is, if not then its off to another motherboard!
