I have a Nexstar 2 external enclosure with a 9Gb Seagate drive hooked up to my USB port and can't seem to get a drive letter. It is USB 2.0 and I am running Windows XP Pro with a Xeon 2.66GHz and 2Gb Ram. The drive is partitioned and formatted - it sees the drive but won't initalize it in Disk Management.

I want to use the external drive for backup purposes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Get the Sea Tools to set this drive up. Run the win OS and install the Sea Tools (Disk Wizard) and let it set the drive up. Write "zeros" to the drive and all chould be good

Get the tools here:

Seagate Disk Wizard
