I have an 80 GB Western Digital drive from my desktop computer that I installed in a USB external case. Everytime I hook it to my laptop, I get a USB device not recognized error message. Not sure what to do.

I also have a 160 gb Seagate in the same brand of box and it is recognized perfectly.

Anyone have any suggestions?

TIA

dannyocean,

Just a check: On Your desktop this drive was formatted as:

FAT32 or NTFS?

You laptop's OS is Win?? if not W2K or newer, and the drive is NTFS it will not be recognized.

Just a thought.

Are you using a USB ver 2.0 hub to connect these devices?
