Hi, we have several satellite offices, most with IBM systems for their DC/File Server, each with a external USB drive attached for backup. One of the offices has a Dell PowerEdge 2850 for a DC/File Server with the identical model external USB drive that the others have. When the system is started up in the morning the drive, which has folders that are to be shared on is always offline, and has to be reactivated via Disk Management, and the shares recreated. This is not a problem for the offices with the IBM systems. Is there a configuration partiucalr to Dell's that does not allow the configuration to carry over after shutdown and power ups? These are all USB 2.0 Drives connected to USB 2.0 connectors. And no, these systems cannot be left on 24/7.
TIA
