I just installed a new external USB drive on my Windows 2000 Professional computer. The drivers all installed correctly, Device Manager shows no conflicts and the new drive shows up in the list. Problem is that the drive is not visible from Windows. The disk came from a linux machine, so I know the formating is incorrect for Windows to recongnize. Here's the question, how to I format this drive on the USB interface? PowerMax from Maxtor only works for IDE drives (which this doesn't appear as) Any hints, save removing the drive, installing in another machine on the IDE controller and formating, then reinstalling in the external USB box?

Thanks

Windows is seeing the drive, probably not seeing it from within Windows Explorer.

Since the drive came from a Linux computer, you probably will need to put it in a computer as an IDE Internal drive and fdisk/format it to remove the Linux boot record.
