My SO has decided that use of the laptop in the home office is groovy but also wants to be able to connect in the living room (its football season!)

Our internet connection is via satellite; the connection from the modem is USB.

The optimal solution, and the one I will install given time to do it is a wireless network, sharing the connection.

Is there a quick & dirty way to extend that connection about 50' in the meantime? Can I just string 3 active (with repeaters) 16' USB extensions together?

To my knowledge, any extension longer than 15 feet can cause serious problems. The active part of it (repeater) may work, I've never actually seen a usb "repeater".

Your modem doesn't have an ethernet output?

Thanks for the info...the $85 solution looks good. Now let's see if impatience is worth it ;~)

if you go from the "booster" to a wireless AP you might be able to go wireless w/ no problem. Buy the AP localy, if it doesn't work you'll be able to get your money back ;)
