USB Dell Mouse Does Not work after applying XP SP1

I purchased a Dell Dimension 4600 with XP Home. I upgraded to XP Pro and applied SP1. After applying SP1, the OS did not recognize the USB mouse. I applied the Update for Windows XP (KB822603), but I am having the same issue. If I uninstall SP1, the mouse will work properly. Thank you for lany advice.
