I have RedHat 7.2 loaded dual-boot with Windows2000 on a laptop. My motherboard developed a short last week. My supplier replaced the motherboard and CPU with different architecture. Windows is operating normally. When Linux is loading, I see the usb-uhci controller initalize normally. After this, I get a failure on initializing usb-ohci. I also get the failure if I manually try to initialize (insmod usb-ohci).
1. Should both of these controllers be initializing? I only recall seeing the usb-uhci in my previous setup.
2. What is the difference between the two?
3. Can I disable the call to the usb-ohci? And how?
I have been working with Linux for about 1 year, but am still a newbie in many aspects. If anyone can suggest anything, or even a good information resource, I would appreciate it.
