I have a problem with my usb device. It was recognizing the device but, now it does not. The Device Mangler has no problems and i have turned on legacy in Bios. Everytime i run add new hardware it does not recognize my printer that im trying to install. The only thing that might have a problem it says that my resource is set to irq 9 But, sharing with two other devices that makes 3 devices using irq 9. if so is there a way to use another irq. Even though there is no conflict by DM. Please help.

sundust1,

Don't know what OS you are using or the type of Printer you have. It is helpful if you post these important facts.

Try by unplugging the printer, then in Control Panel-printers;
delete the printer. Also check Add/Remove Programs for any applicaations that may be installed for the printer and remove them...Shutdown.....plug the printer back in and reboot.

The system should detect "new hardware" and install it.

NOTE: Some Printer Mfg's state that you shold install the printer software before connecting the printer. Check your printer manual.

Ok i'll try that. I'm using 98 and it is lexmark printer.
Thanks for advice.

I tried rvnguy. But, still did not get it recognize it. On the root hub it will recognize it in power setting. I says it requires 4ma. If it is under 50ma is there a problem? Also how do i know if i'm using the right host controller?
let me know. Thanks

sandust1,

If you have not altered anything else, then due to the fact that it worked before you are using the correct drivers etc on the other supporting hardware. Check the Control Panel System device manager and look for the "!" conflict indicator. If ther ae no conflicts then this is generally ok.

Did WIN find new hardware?

Did Win install it?

Be more specific about what you tried and the results that you got, please.

Did you check your Lexmark ???mdl manual?

Do You have an Install disk/cd for this printer?

Does this printer work on USB 1.1 & 2.0 or only 1.1?

Does the motherboard support USB 2.0?

From your post this was working and then quit working.
Think back about what you did that might have caused this problem. I know that you think that you did nothing but carefully go over what was going on prior to you noticing that it was not working. Maybe you installed a program or another piece of hardware or something.

Thanks for the advice rvnguy. I found out i'm not using usb
drivers. Do you or anyone know were i can get the drivers
for 82371 AB/EB pci to usb universal host controller. I don't have 98 cd with me. I tried driverguide.com they just send you to intel. free would be good.
Let me know

You can get drivers for your motherboard from the motherboards mfgr website.
