USB Com 1 adapter for NEC PBX's

I tried like heck to get my Desktop folks to get me a new laptop with a serial connection built in but it went in one ear and out the other. Do any of you use a USB to serial adapter for NEC IPS Matworx and 2400 MAT. If so what is working well for you?

Use a USB to 9 pin all the time.

I use one based on the Prolific chipset like this one...

I can talk to all systems with it from IMG right through to IPS also Fujitsu, Tadiran and other peripherals like the Kirk Dect systems (don't know if you have that one)! I also have an express card that fits into my hp that uses the same chipset and no problems with that either!

Ozzie - are you using this adapter with the old DOS commands for the IMG?

I have used it on the IMG in the lab but seldom have to use it in the field as most systems have an on site mat. I do however use it regularly with the DOS mat on ICS 140s for routine backups with no problems whatsoever. My PC is dual boot and I use XP when talking to the older systems.

My adapter was bought from a local wholesaler but is identical to the one pictured.
