usb cabling

hi cabling geniuses!
i admit to zero knowledge on pin-outs (but i can lift heavy weights :). i have just acquired a relatively old case with front usb1.cables for motherboard header. however, the m/board has usb2 only. is there any way that the two are compatible to permit me to use the front connector or has it got to be a pci card?

Someone here might know the answer, but you would probably have better luck in the PC hardware forum. This forum pertains more to premise cabling.
