I have a user with a Siemens P series Lifebook. When ever a USB device is plugged in (we've tried a Kingston Data Traveller memory stick, a Pentax digital camera & an iPod), although the drive is recognised in My Computer, we do not get the autorun box (the one that asks what software do we want to run the content of the drive).
I have gone into the properties of the Removable drive, checked that the corect options (to prompt) is selected. This didn't work. so I changed it, and he re-changed back to the orginal setting. This still hasn't worked. Also, with the iPod, in iTunes, there is no icon to represent the drive, so no tunes can be moved across to it.
All of the USB devices work fine in other machines, and they all used to work on this Lifebook.

Can anyone help???

Thanks for the reply.

That is what I tried first of all - I tried changing the settings to have it open Explorer by default, then back to Prompting for action, but none of them seemed to work, it seems as if there is an over-riding setting that applies to all USB devices somewhere that I cannot find.

Is this Seimens part of a corporate network at any time? Corporate IT may have changed something.
