I have a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop, it has USB 1.1, however the port has stopped working properly, and I would like to upgrade to USB 2.0. Here is my dilemma.
The machine has two PCMCIA slots, arranged one on top of the other. I use a Netgear PCMCIA Wireless NIC in one of the slots. Like most PCMCIA wireless cards, it has an antenna which extends out from the side of the slot, and is thicker than the rest of the card, so it also extends upward.
All of the PCMCIA USB cards I have found are also oriented this way, with the ports extending out from the card and extending upward. This of course would prevent me from inserting both of these cards in the laptop at the same time.
I am wondering if there are any PCMCIA USB 2.0 cards out there which either A)extend downward from the plane of the card itself, rather than upward, or B) use a dongle like many PCMCIA Cat5 NIC cards do, so that I could insert both cards in the slots.
